Fable's is powered by volunteers who open their homes, share their skills and help rescued hamsters move towards brighter futures.

There's more than one way to help

Whether you can foster a hamster, help with transport or contribute practical skills from home, every role supports the rescue.

Foster A Hamster

Provide a safe, enriching temporary home and help us understand each hamster as an individual.

Practical Support

Lend a hand with resources, fundraising, administration, or other behind-the-scenes work.

Specialist Skills

Support research, education, nutrition or another area where your knowledge can make a difference.

You can express interest in more than one role.

Fostering shouldn't leave you out of pocket.

Approved foster expenses are covered by Fable's.

We provide or reimburse agreed essentials used for foster hamsters, including approved food, bedding and sand allowances. Agreed, rescue travel is supported at 28p per mile for the round trip. Higher or unusual costs must be approved in advance.

Vet care and support guided and approved by Fable's.

Fable's remains responsible for approved veterinary care and will guide foster carers through any health concerns.

Before you apply

Applicants must be 18 or over.

Everyone in the household should agree

Landlord permission may be required

Foster homes must follow Fable's care standards.

You do not need to be an expert. We value honesty, reliability and willingness to learn.

Volunteer Application

If you would like to volunteer with Fable's Hamster Rescue, please fill in our application form, and a member of the team will get back to you as soon as possible.
